The Masthead

A newspaper that
shouldn't exist.

The Bi-Weekly Chronicles is a satirical news show built like a newspaper. Front page, middle page, back page. News, tech, and sports, run through an editorial process assembled entirely out of bad instincts. Live twice a week.

The show

Every edition runs three sections, same as the paper it's pretending to be. The front page takes the day's biggest stories: world news, culture, and whatever everyone woke up arguing about. The middle page handles tech, business, and whatever the internet decided to care about. The back page is sports, which is where the real journalism happens.

What you won't find here is politics. There's plenty going on everywhere else, and everyone is tired enough already.

It airs live on Twitch and TikTok, and lands on YouTube afterward for people with functioning schedules.

The feed, and why it's here

The front page of this site isn't a blog. It's the newsroom wire the show gets built from: the same ranked list of what's breaking that gets read, argued about, and turned into segments. It's public because there's no reason to hide it.

  1. It reads everything. News wires, Reddit, X, YouTube, TikTok, Bluesky, and a long list of sports feeds. Continuously, not on a publish schedule.
  2. It clusters. Forty outlets writing the same story collapse into one topic, so you see the story rather than forty headlines about the story.
  3. It scores on spread, not clout. Ranking is driven by how a story is actually traveling across platforms, and how fast. That means engagement on the specific post, never the follower count of whoever posted it.
  4. You can narrow it. Pick a section, filter by category, and change the time window from the last hour out to everything still live.

It refreshes on its own every few minutes. If something is climbing, you'll see it here before it turns into a segment.

Tom Ryan

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Tom Ryan is a retired tech bro, which is a thing you're allowed to be before thirty if the timing works out. He spent most of his career at AppLovin, joining as an early employee and staying through the company's 2021 Nasdaq debut.

Afterward he did what any reasonable person does with a windfall and a personality: took a formal sabbatical, had an unhurried mid-life crisis, bought a boat, and moved to the Florida Keys to fish. Every true Florida man's dream, briefly achieved.

Then it turned out that retiring before thirty is mostly just being bored somewhere warm.

He's based in Orlando, though "based" is doing some heavy lifting there. He rotates through Chicago and New York regularly, driven by an unshakable loyalty to Chicago sports and an uncanny ability to satisfy his fat assery in three cities at once.

So he went back to work on the things he actually cared about. Sports, comedy, and journalism, roughly in that order. He started Unfiltered Satire to do all three at once. The boat stayed.

The studio

Unfiltered Satire is the independent studio behind this show. It also puts out Tom Ryan Live: in-person sports and travel coverage, daily hot takes, and impressions nobody requested.

No network, no parent company, no notes from anyone. Depending on the week, that's either the whole appeal or the central problem.
